Cyprus Primary Association and Friends is an organisation, based in Nicosia, designed to raise awareness about a little known, yet surprisingly common condition; Primary Immunodeficiency (PID). We aim to raise general awareness of the condition, as well as offer support and guidance to those who live with it.

Primary Immunodeficiency is a group of over 200 different conditions that affects how the immune system functions. People who are affected have part of their immune system missing or not functioning correctly. Because of this their natural defences to illness from various germs such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses that we are surrounded by constantly.

This equates to people with the condition getting infections more often than normal, taking longer to recover from infections when they have antibiotic treatments, and the infections can return after being treated.

Being more susceptible to infections is one of the most common forms of primary immunodeficiency.
